چکیده

Damping of two deformation modes by one control loop has been demonstrated by simulation for a typcial 3 MW wind turbine. The vibration levels of the 2 and 3 in-plane modal modes were significantly reduced. Calculations with the aerodynamic code PHATAS showed an overall in-plane fatigue load reduction by ca 40%. The control loop includes a Kalman filter that estimates state variables for the modal modes. The states are obtained from band filtered generator speed measurents only. The state feedback to the generator torque is based on pole placement techniques.

Dynamics and Control of Lateral Tower Vibrations in Offshore Wind Turbines by Means of Active Generator Torque

Lateral tower vibrations of offshore wind turbines are normally lightly damped, and large amplitude vibrations induced by wind and wave loads in this direction may significantly shorten the fatigue life of the tower. This paper proposes the modeling and control of lateral tower vibrations in offshore wind turbines using active generator torque. To implement the active control algorithm, both th...

Offshore Wind Turbine Tower Fore-Aft Fatigue Load Reduction by Coupling Control and Vibrational Analysis

The present study proposes a novel tower-control technique that couples linear control feedback theory with an online time-frequency analysis of the tower vibrations, with the aim to widen the research area of situational control of wind turbines. Numerical simulations were conducted for two 5MW-class offshore wind turbines, and the performance of the proposed control method has been tested in ...

Refined Fatigue Analysis for Tripod Support Structure of Offshore Wind Turbine (OWT)

Fatigue design and certification of OWT is a special challenge. As the turbine manufacturers are reluctant to share detailed turbines information and the offshore contractors have not full knowledge of integrated OWT design, integrated and non-linear time domain simulations are too cumbersome. A simplified approach is proposed, that requires complete separation between turbine and support struc...

A New Control Method for Smoothing PMSG-based Offshore Wind Farm Output Power

Nowadays, propagation of wind turbines make challenges to supply safe power to the grid. Because of wind speed changes, supervisors are concerned to wind turbines, be able to produce appropriate electric power during the wind speed changes. As a matter of fact, investors are mostly like to invest on offshore wind farms, because of their more stable and continuous wind speed rather than onshore ...

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF JACKET SUPPORTING STRUCTURES FOR OFFSHORE WIND TURBINES USING ENHANCED COLLIDING BODIES OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHM

Structural optimization of offshore wind turbine structures has become an important issue in the past years due to the noticeable developments in offshore wind industry. However, considering the offshore wind turbines’ size and environment, this task is outstandingly difficult. To overcome this barrier, in this paper, a metaheuristic algorithm called Enhanced Colliding Bodies Optimization...
